Every Fjogstad house is individually designed to take account of site layout, client preferences and to obtain the best advantage of views and sunlight. The Fjogstad house kits are available for purchase on their own or can be constructed for you. Years of experience has proven to the Norwegians the benefits of timber clad constructions. Unlike blockwork, timber is able to "breathe", which allows the structure to dry out thoroughly, thus preventing any dampness being retained. Fjogstad houses are built almost entirely from kiln-dried timber with pressure treated exterior cladding to ensure long, trouble free life. Each kit is so precisely precut and so well insulated that you can reduce your heating bill by up to 60%. It is worth noting that temperatures in Norway range from -30ºC in winter to +30°C in summer, and rainfall can be up to 80" in some areas. Therefore, a high insulation factor, protection against extremes of temperature and resistance to heavy rainfall and humid atmosphere are necessary and inherent features of Fjogstad designs. Please note that all house prices quoted are for standard kits as delivered to Orkney. The prices exclude alterations to standard kit, site purchase costs, building costs, foundations & siteworks, plumbing, drainage (soil & surface) and electrical work. VAT is not chargeable on kits constructed by Stan Pyke but is chargeable where kits are supplied for self build. Prices are based on 11 Norwegian krone to one pound sterling and are subject to variation in the exchange rate.
